Julian Hamann is a Consultant ENT and Thyroid Surgeon at Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust and the Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead.
He is experienced in carrying out a wide range of procedures on the ear, nose, throat and neck and manages all general ENT conditions. He has a specialist interest in problems of the nose and sinuses, allergy, voice disorders, children’s ENT problems, thyroid disease and snoring.
He graduated from Kings College, London, and undertook his specialist training in South East England. He received advanced training in nasal reconstructive and endoscopic sinus surgery at Guy’s Hospital, London, and in thyroid surgery at the Royal Marsden Hospital. He has particular expertise in Paediatric ENT surgery, receiving training at the Evelina Hospital, London.
During his higher surgical training, Mr Hamann undertook further research at Imperial College, London, distinguishing himself in his research into the use of three-dimensional image manipulation in rhinoplasty. He has also published research in national and international peer-reviewed journals on a wide range of ENT topics, and has presented at international conferences.
Mr Hamann is an enthusiastic teacher and is responsible for the training of higher surgical trainees. He is interested in the collaborative management of patients with complex disorders of the nose and sinuses, working with both Consultant Maxillofacial and Opthalmic Surgeons, using computer-assisted navigational surgery in especially difficult cases. He is a member of the West Kent Cancer Network in Thyroid Oncology, and manages benign and malignant conditions of the thyroid.
