Having completed his general O&G training in London, he underwent 4 years of specialist training in laparoscopic surgery and uro-gynaecology at OxfordUniversity and the JohnRadcliffeHospital. He has been a consultant in O&G in Tunbridge Wells since 2008, specializing in uro-gynaecology and laparoscopic surgery.
Since becoming a consultant he has developed laparoscopic pelvic floor reconstructive surgery in Tunbridge Wells, offering uterine preserving surgery to women as an alternative to the more traditional and widely available hysterectomy. The main focus of his work is laparoscopic (keyhole) reconstructive surgery for prolapse and minimally invasive gynaecological surgery. He also specialises in pelvic floor problems related to childbirth and the management of urinary incontinence.
He has published widely in peer reviewed journals and has a strong interest in training. He is recognised as a preceptor in laparoscopic surgery by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and oversees training in Laparoscopic Surgery in the London Deanery. He has maintained his links with Oxford, holding an honorary consultant post there and regularly being involved as faculty in their training courses. Alex is married to another doctor with 3 young children.
