Professional profile

Mr Hamouda graduated from Ain Shams University Medical School with Highest Honours. Following selection to an internship within the University he gained a Masters in Surgery and a Doctorate Degree by Thesis.

Having also become a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons England by examination he undertook a Fellowship in laparoscopic biliary stone surgery including bile duct exploration. A further period of training in the South West Thames Deanery enabled him to acquire specalist experience in upper gastrointestinal surgery including reflux and cancer surgery.

His weight loss surgical experience was consolidated by a further Fellowship in a bariatric centre of excellence in the UK. His publications range from topics including high grade dysplasia of the oesophagus to minimally invasive oesophageal resections, acute pancreatitis and transhiatal oesophagectomies. However his special research interest is the various approaches and methods to clear the bile duct laparoscopically of stones.

As a Consultant Surgeon at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust he predominantly reviews patients with oesophageal, gastric and biliary disease with a specific interest in weight loss surgery.
